Kettering U Student Foster Built Tank
Greg Brown

April 7, 2008

Flint, MI:  Kettering University student Will Foster has built a working tank.  (Please see picture.)

~ Top speed: 20 mph.
~ Time it took to build:  About two years.
~ The cannon:  Shoots empty Red Bull cans.
~ Cost:  About $12,000, including trial-and-error parts that didn’t make it into the final tank.

Foster is a member of a fraternity.  Says Foster:  "I said to the guys at the house, 'Can I build a tank in the parking lot here?' because lots of guys have their projects that they're working on."

After listing tank-building on his resume, Foster was hired by armored vehicle maker Force Protection, Inc. for a summer co-op position.
